NEXUS
Ireland is a peace and reconciliation project of the Youth
Board of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and is based in
Lucan. As a Christian center for reconciliation and peace,
the Lucan Youth Center and Nexus Ireland welcome people from
all over Ireland to participate in its programs. Its popularity
has increased dramatically in the last three years and is
regularly used by churches of all denominations, schools and
youth groups. It is a fresh, bold approach to reconciliation
and peacemaking. It challenges the traditional tribal loyalties
of young Irish people, attempts to change age-old fears and
misconceptions, and provides a forum for the churched and
unchurched to communicate freely and to learn the principles
of peace. It does this by taking those involved out of
their own environment and, through the word of God, giving
opportunities to form bonds of friendship and understanding
in a new way that no political solution can.
