Amistad Mission
Amistad
Mission (or "Friendship Mission") supports two ministries
which address the physical and spiritual needs of the poor
in Bolivia. An orphanage in Cochabamba called La Villa
uses a cottage with a "mama" to group children into
a home-like environment. PCNP supports one cottage with a
mama and up to 10 children. In total, eight houses can house
80 children. The orphanage also operates a school and has
a spiritual development program. Amistad also teaches nutrition
to rural Bolivian parents and children and offers basic health
services in their Mountain Medical Clinic in Aramasi, a remote
farm community. The clinic has been successful in reducing
malnutrition and now serves several thousand Quechua Indian
natives (descendants of the Incas).
If you would like to find out more about the mission, consider
a retreat visit to La Morada, where you will enjoy panoramic
views of Cochabamba (from 8,500 ft elevation) and the nearby
snow-covered Tunari mountains (15,000 ft elevation). Paul
Newpower leads visitors in meditations and tours of the mission,
and God will certainly renew your faith during this time.
