Reconciliation
and Renewal
Haggai Institute
Haggai
Institute was founded in 1969 to equip Asian, African and
South American Christian leaders to reach their own people
for Christ and to train others. The approach is to "start
from within and begin at the top." Haggai Institute
is both international and interdenominational. The world has
changed dramatically from the days of the traditional missionary
movement begun back in 1792 when William Carey challenged
European Christians to take the Gospel to all nations. That
movement was born during a unique socio-political era that
no longer exists. Western governments were then in near total
control of most of Asia, Africa and Latin America. This is
certainly no longer the case. Today millions of people live
in countries that by government action prohibit entry by foreign
missionaries. Yet Christians are still faced with the challenge
of the Great Commission of Jesus to evangelize the world.
The Institute has trained over 40,000 leaders who evangelize
and train others in their own countries. Once trained,
these leaders draw up their own individualized strategies
for evangelism, in consultation with fellow leaders and Haggai
faculty.
