Prison Fellowship Ministries is a ministry started by Chuck Colson in 1976 following his release from prison for his involvement in the Watergate affair. The position of Executive Director for New York City (which covers New Jersey as well) is currently vacant. Through local volunteers and churches, PFM conducts in-prison Bible studies, discipleship seminars, and worship services; ministers to the families of inmates via Angel Tree projects, marriage seminars, and spouse fellowship groups; ministers to ex-inmates via aftercare programs; and ministers to the victims of crime through Neighbors Who Care®. Through Justice Fellowship, PFM seeks to reform the criminal justice system. Under the auspices of Innerchange Freedom Initiative, currently active in four states, PFM is responsible for the daily activities of inmates who have chosen to be included in the program.
