Van's Words of Wisdom
May 2000

One day when he was home from the hospital, I asked my 82 year old Dad, Van Vandermeer, what he would always want us to remember. Here are his important words of wisdom to guide us to live a Christian life in thought, word and deed.

Put the Lord first in your life!
Love the Lord with all your heart, soul and strength.
Remember that God will never leave you alone in any circumstance.
Make Him #1 in Your Life!

In everything you do at school, work or play remember God sees you and knows your thoughts before your actions.
You cannot hide from him so live according to His word to the best of your ability.

There will be times in your life when you use bad judgment, make hasty decisions and even show hatred.
The consequences are usually very sad.
But once they are done, you have to correct them no matter how hard it is!
You need to say: "I was wrong, I sinned against God."
You need to go to the other person to say: "I was wrong. Please forgive me."
God knows all about it. Jesus experienced hard times on earth.
He will be with you all the way.

Don't give into temptation…no matter how small it seems.
If you know it is wrong, don't do it!
Ask the Lord to give you a way out.
Jesus was tempted too.
Be strong. Remember who you are. Remember whose you are.
You are a child of God and you belong to Him no matter what!
Nothing and no one will ever change that!

I love you and I am proud of you!
